Pizza with a difference!

NORTHERN DOUGH CO- We’re delighted to be exhibiting at The Liverpool Food and Drinks Festival 2011,
where our delicious pizza dough will be available to purchase in all three
flavours – Original, Chilli and Rosemary. We’re convinced that you’ll love
making pizza using our all-natural dough, but we’re very happy to be offering a
selection of try-before-you-buy samples on both show days, freshly cooked in our
pizza oven. We’ll be cooking different recipes throughout the day, so make sure
you keep coming back to our stand!

There are lots of ways to use our delicious pizza dough once you get it home –
having a pizza party with friends is a great and inexpensive way to entertain
guests, and kids love making their own pizzas, so get them in the kitchen for
something fun to do on a rainy weekend (and, unlike potato painting, you get to
eat the results!). Recipes can be simple, with tomato passata, creamy mozzarella
and dots of balsamic onion jam (classic is great) or more adventurous – we love
pine nuts, red onion, sultanas and goats cheese on our Chilli dough, which
really packs a punch! There are lots more recipe ideas at
www.northerndoughco.com have a look and see what takes your fancy.
If you come up with a delicious recipe, do let us know
at hello@northerndoughco.com !

We know you’ll love our dough, and if you’d like to show your appreciation,
please do vote for us
at www.liverpoolfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk/the-awards/  We’d love to win
such a fantastic foodie award, and if you vote, we promise to give away even
more free pizza samples!

Looking forward to meeting you at the Festival – do stop by and say hello!
Amy & Chris

IRELAND MEETS HAVANA IN THE FORM OF TWO NEW AREAS AT LIVERPOOL FOOD & DRINK FESTIVAL

Stena Line & The PeacockInternational transport and travel service company STENA LINE and popular city centre food and drink hotspot THE PEACOCK will bring two new areas to this year’s Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.

Stena Line, who will act as the official travel partner, will bring a taste of Ireland to the event’s launch weekend on September 3 and 4 by offering visitors samples of Irish food and drink, complimented by a programme of traditional Irish bands across the two days. They will also be working closely with festival organisers SK Events to encourage residents of both Ireland and Northern Ireland to travel to the event using their services.

Commenting on the sponsorship Michael McGrath, Stena Line’s Area Director – Irish Sea, said: “We are delighted to be Official Travel Partner of the 2011 Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.

“With our recent acquisition of the Liverpool (Birkenhead) to Belfast shipping route, we are keen to build our presence and identity within Liverpool and its surrounding area and we see this festival as an ideal opportunity to introduce Stena Line to a very important audience.”

Meanwhile, The Peacock on Seel Street will transform a part of Sefton Park into the streets of Havana as part of their dedicated music and bar area. Visitors will be able to sip on a Mojito or two while listening to some of the region’s most respected DJs.

Director of The Peacock, Alfie Torres-Silva, said that his team would be providing a line-up of talented acts in their very own Latin summer bar area.

He said: “We wanted to create a smaller version of The Peacock directly in the middle of the best event held in Sefton Park, to show people exactly what we offer as a venue. By being the official music sponsor, our job is to keep people entertained and possibly dancing for the whole of the festival, by showcasing the best of Liverpool’s bustling bar and music scene. Our licensed area will house a variety of offerings, including our award winning drinks and entertainment.”

There are now less than six weeks until Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, which will delight thousands of visitors yet again with an array of mouth-watering dishes from some of the finest bars, restaurants, hotels and food retail outlets in the city. Visitors will also be able to enjoy live music, celebrity cooking demonstrations, masterclasses, sampling and a children’s interactive area.

The Festival continues in the city’s bars and restaurants until September 10, with the prestigious Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Awards concluding celebrations on September 12.

To celebrate the announcement of The Peacock at this year’s Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, the team will be holding a free summer BBQ and special Paella evening this Friday (July 29) at 6 o’clock.

A full calendar of events and activities can be found on the festival website www.liverpoolfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk

VOTING STARTS FOR LIVERPOOL FOOD & DRINK FESTIVAL AWARDS 2011

Voting has officially started for the prestigious Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Awards 2011. Now in their fourth year, the event celebrates the very best restaurants, bars, producers and hotels around the city and all of the eleven winners are voted for directly by the public. Here at SK Events, we really wanted to let people tell us who their favourites are and for them to be recognised in such a big celebration. It’s a chance for them to get the recognition they deserve.

These awards have become a highlight on Liverpool’s food and drink calendar and they are the only industry awards in the city that are voted for by the public.

Categories for the 2011 awards include Liverpool’s Favourite Producer, Favourite Independent Cafe/Coffee Shop, Liverpool’s Favourite Restaurant and Liverpool Favourite Bar or Pub. As well as support from the Daily Post, the event has secured sponsorship from an array of local businesses including Brown Turner Ross, Rhubarb & Custard, Beer Cellars and The De Vere Group.

The Liverpool Food & Drink Festival 2011 Awards is an opportunity to recognise what the city has to offer. Liverpool is continuing to impress as a vibrant culinary metropolitan and the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival and the awards have helped to deliver that message over the past few years.

Seven weeks to go…

We are officially on our festival countdown and can you believe it, there are only seven weeks to go!

There is lots of excitement in the SK office at present, what with the announcement of celebrity chefs, new interactive areas and our fantastic list of sponsors but we’ve got an extra special piece of news to share with you today…

Thanks to the fantastic bars, restaurants, hotels and producers from around the city that we have on board, we have no huts remaining. That means we have more than 100 companies onboard for this year’s event.

Wow.

To think back four years ago, when our festival was first created, all we had was a handful of establishments and a marquee to house them. And since that day, the great Scouse public have continued to support us.

Liverpool Food and Drink Festival just keeps going from strength to strength and we just can’t wait for September 3. Who’s with us?!
